Hey everyone,I wanna focus here on a comparison between the RADBOT 1000 and the new Planet Bike Superflash TURBO. When I was trying to figure out how these two compare I could not find any review about this! So... now I am writing one. The Radbot used to be basically the only mainstream 1 watt tail light at this time, which proofed to be extraordinarily bright. Now the Superflash Turbo comes into the 1 watt league as well, and I just bought one because I am a blinking stuff addict ;) . The Superflash turbo is really bright, a direct comparison of both lights on steady on in my dark basement revealed NO difference. The beam is basically exactly the same, same width, same shades, same brightness. I was surprised by that, but I guess they have the same LED supplier. Positive about the Superflash here: the whole case gets illuminated in a nice red, so the visibility from the side is higher than with the Radbot 1000. So, if you wanna run the lights on... I've used and loved Planet Bike's 1/2 watt "Superflash" LED taillights for several years, on all of our several bikes. I even run them in the daytime, to ensure it is impossible for even a distracted driver to miss seeing us on the road. The 1/2 watt "Superflash" was my choice until now, but no longer. As soon as I learned Planet Bike offers a "Turbo" version with twice the power, the turbo version immediately replaced both our current bike taillights. The difference in brightness is obvious, especially in daytime, but also at night. For instance, as I arrived home from an hour ride last evening, I looked behind me, and noticed the Superflash Turbo visibly lighting up the entire street - for a full block! The brightness almost matched my much more costly 2 watt flashing LED headlight.The new turbo version lists for a few dollars more than the original "Superflash", but is still dirt cheap compared to needing even minimal medical care because someone failed to notice the... I've been a 'SuperFlash' fan for a year or so now. I have a total of five of the regular SuperFlashs in service and have not had any failures to date. In my opinion, there was no reason to put out the new SuperFlash Turbo as the regular SuperFlash is so bright.Then, I bought one SuperFlash Turbo, It is such an improvement~! Much, much brighter, and the new flash pattern is great. Same great quality, with an improved switch (some friends don't like the switch on the regular SuperFlash too much, but it has never been an issue for me). On my recumbent trike I *had* two SuperFlashs in back, now I find that one SuperFlash Turbo is all I want/need. I of course will be buying more of these to replace my regular SuperFlashs. |
